The 2nd grade is in need volunteers to read with the kids! We want to get all of our kiddos reading!!! It would be great if we could get one volunteer every day or, at least, volunteers three days a week per class (3 classes).
For example, Volunteer A comes in on Mondays, Volunteer B on Tuesday, etc.
Volunteers are needed 10:30-11:15, every school day.
Here is what it would look like:
10:30: Come in to the class. They’ll be finishing their mini-lesson. Kids will start reading.
10:45-11:15: Read with kids. (Your assigned teacher will provide a schedule of who to read with. This is one-on-one reading; you will not read in front of the class).
11:15: Walk out with the class, as they head to recess and lunch. Volunteers are free to go.
We’re looking to schedule from Monday, December 2, through Friday, June 5. If you can, please email email@example.com all days/dates you could volunteer.
You can come every Thursday and Friday through December 20th
You can come in the 1st Tuesday of every month through June 2nd.
Erin Belay will send a schedule in a spreadsheet that will block out all holidays and put your name next to the dates you have signed up for and which teacher.
Just a note that it can sometimes take up to six weeks for a background check to process at the beginning of the school year. We have the Fun Run coming up on September 27. If you are hoping to volunteer and you haven’t yet completed your background check, we encourage you to do so soon!
Can you spare 15-30 minutes a week to help reshelve books? No experience needed! I will be doing a quick tour and training session on Tuesday, Sept 25, at 8:35am, Wednesday, Sept 26, at 11:00am and 1:00pm and potentially Friday, October 5, (During the Fun Run!) Please feel free to message me to see alternate times available. Volunteers will be able to come in at their convenience and work independently after the tour.
Thank you for your support of our Hazeldale students and staff with the generous donation of your volunteer time.
If you’re already an established Art Literacy volunteer or just want to get more involved with the Art Literacy program, come to our training on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 10 a.m. The training session will be held in the Art Literacy classroom at Hazeldale at 118th.
Our next artist that we’ll be learning about is Alexander Calder.
In case you missed it in the BSD Briefs that came out today (it was a little buried in there!), here’s what you need to do if you need to update your volunteer information to a new school in the Beaverton School District or to opt out entirely of volunteering!
Your Myvolunteerpage profile is NOT linked to student information and will not follow you to a new location. In preparation for the 2017/2018
school year, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org, if your student will be moving to a new grade level or if you fall within a new high school boundary.
Hello! Thanks to all the parents that attended Volunteer Orientation today! It was great to see so many people there!
Note: In case you were unable to attend, just a heads up that individuals that just recently submitted their form for the background check may have a little bit of a wait. There’s currently about a three-week backlog. If you’re hoping to volunteer for the fun run and you haven’t yet completed your background check, please contact Rosanne Tyson and she will attempt to get your request expedited.
Just wanted to provide a quick overview of the process for logging hours in the volunteer system too for when you’re doing work remotely (or if you forgot to log in on the computer at the school… or if you forgot to log out!) You can also follow these instructions to sign up for an activity.
Head over to the log-in page. (You can also access this page, by visiting the PTO website, clicking on the VOLUNTEER link and choosing MY VOLUNTEER PAGE APPLICATION FORM. Click on the “Go to volunteer login” link on the right column.)
Type in your user name and password on the following window. (Can’t remember? You can also reset your credentials too.)
A new window will pop up.
To log hours already worked, click on the HOURS link, select Hazeldale Elementary as the organization from the drop-down, choose an Activity (you may need to click on the Active button to get them all to appear), choose the date you volunteered, fill in the amount of time you worked, and then hit Save.
To sign up for possible volunteer opportunities, click on the OPPORTUNITIES tab and click on the Activity that you’re interested in. In the new window that pops up, just click on the Sign Up button.
Please join us at the school on Wednesday, September 27, at 6 p.m. for Volunteer Orientation.
Come learn more about volunteering at Hazeldale, including how to check in, how to remotely log your hours, how to sign up for different volunteer opportunities, and how to operate the photocopiers and other machines in the Production Room.
If you haven’t already done so, please head over here to complete the background check form for volunteers too!
Hello! Our annual fun run is coming up on Friday, October 6 and we need help with things like setting up the run area, marking off laps, and opening and handing out popsicles to the kids when they’re done. Do you have some time to help?
Send a quick email to email@example.com and we’ll get you in touch with Rosanne Tyson, our friendly neighborhood volunteer coordinator!
By the way, the donations for the fun run are off to a great start! Keep up the good work!
