Reading Buddies Needed for Second Grade!

The 2nd grade is in need volunteers to read with the kids! We want to get all of our kiddos reading!!! It would be great if we could get one volunteer every day or, at least, volunteers three days a week per class (3 classes).

For example, Volunteer A comes in on Mondays, Volunteer B on Tuesday, etc.

Volunteers are needed 10:30-11:15, every school day.

Here is what it would look like:

  • 10:30: Come in to the class. They’ll be finishing their mini-lesson. Kids will start reading.
  • 10:45-11:15: Read with kids. (Your assigned teacher will provide a schedule of who to read with. This is one-on-one reading; you will not read in front of the class).
  • 11:15: Walk out with the class, as they head to recess and lunch. Volunteers are free to go.

We’re looking to schedule from Monday, December 2, through Friday, June 5. If you can, please email brookey714@gmail.com all days/dates you could volunteer.

Example:

  • You can come every Thursday and Friday through December 20th
  • You can come in the 1st Tuesday of every month through June 2nd.

Erin Belay will send a schedule in a spreadsheet that will block out all holidays and put your name next to the dates you have signed up for and which teacher.

Thank you!

Make Sure You’ve Passed Your Volunteer Background Check

The annual fun run is our most popular volunteer activity of the year! Want to help mark off laps or hand out Otter Pops on September 27, but new to volunteering at Hazeldale? You’ll need to pass the District’s background check first and there’s always a bit of a delay getting those processed at the beginning of the year. Get ahead of the curve and submit your application now! https://app.betterimpact.com/Application/?OrganizationGuid=c7a5ffe3-c03d-4d0b-9f26-d51863f60edb&ApplicationFormNumber=2

Have You Done Your Background Check Yet?

Are you hoping to volunteer at Hazeldale next year, but haven’t completed your background check yet? Get a jump on the process and fill out the background check form here: https://app.betterimpact.com/Application/?OrganizationGuid=c7a5ffe3-c03d-4d0b-9f26-d51863f60edb&ApplicationFormNumber=2

Just a note that it can sometimes take up to six weeks for a background check to process at the beginning of the school year. We have the Fun Run coming up on September 27. If you are hoping to volunteer and you haven’t yet completed your background check, we encourage you to do so soon!

Need to Update Your Volunteer Info?

In case you missed it in the BSD Briefs that came out today (it was a little buried in there!), here’s what you need to do if you need to update your volunteer information to a new school in the Beaverton School District or to opt out entirely of volunteering!

Your Myvolunteerpage profile is NOT linked to student information and will not follow you to a new location. In preparation for the 2017/2018
school year, please send an email to update_volunteer_locations@beaverton.k12.or.us, if your student will be moving to a new grade level or if you fall within a new high school boundary.

If you are no longer volunteering, you can also email update_volunteer_locations@beaverton.k12.or.us and indicate that you would like to remove your profile from the system.

For other updates, such as changing your emergency contact or your email and/or phone number, you can do that my logging into Myvolunteerpage and updating your profile.

Remote Volunteer Sign-In

Hello! Thanks to all the parents that attended Volunteer Orientation today! It was great to see so many people there!

Note: In case you were unable to attend, just a heads up that individuals that just recently submitted their form for the background check may have a little bit of a wait. There’s currently about a three-week backlog. If you’re hoping to volunteer for the fun run and you haven’t yet completed your background check, please contact Rosanne Tyson and she will attempt to get your request expedited.

Just wanted to provide a quick overview of the process for logging hours in the volunteer system too for when you’re doing work remotely (or if you forgot to log in on the computer at the school… or if you forgot to log out!)  You can also follow these instructions to sign up for an activity.

  • Head over to the log-in page.  (You can also access this page, by visiting the PTO website, clicking on the VOLUNTEER link and choosing MY VOLUNTEER PAGE APPLICATION FORM. Click on the “Go to volunteer login” link on the right column.)
  • Type in your user name and password on the following window. (Can’t remember? You can also reset your credentials too.)
  • A new window will pop up.
